CV Tips for Maritime Industry Jobs

Your CV is a very important aspect in the recruitment process so make sure you take care when writing it, check grammar and that it sells you in the best possible way.

Using a professional email address is a must. You should always make sure your personal and contact details are up to date. Have a head and shoulders photo wearing uniform or similar.

Adding your relevant qualifications and skills on the first page is important as any potential employer will see what courses you have undertaken and the level of qualifications held. To include expiry dates is a good idea as well.

We recommend writing your work history in chronological order from most recent employment to the oldest employment. You should include dates to and from, vessel type and size, plus the rank held and duties with each position. Keep this short and concise but making sure all aspects are covered.

Reference contact details can be added but if you have references which can accompany your CV then always have these available.

We have provided a sample CV to assist you.
