Viking Crew welcomes new team members as part of the UK Government Kickstart Programme

Viking Crew continues to see its team grow and have welcomed two new team members over the last month who have both been recruited as part of the UK Government Kickstart Scheme.  The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to employers to create jobs for 16 to 24 year-olds who are currently on Universal Credit.

The Scheme, which is in place across the UK is providing employment for under 25s who are at risk of long-term unemployment. Viking Crew is keen to assist in getting these under 25s back into work.

Sydney Hannah and Charles Cartledge have joined the Crewing and Placement teams respectively within Viking Crew as Administration Assistants, having both previously been assigned a work coach at the Job Centre in Dover to assist them in finding employment in the local area.

As part of the Kickstart scheme both will  develop transferable skills that are aimed at increasing their chances of sustained employment.  These will include key skills of working in an office environment by undertaking administration duties. Both will also be able to undertake additional training and life experiences through Viking Crew and Maritime Skills Academy, again offering these transferable skills for the future.

Paul Rutterford, Operations Director of Viking Crew added ‘it is so important that we are able to get under 25s back into work, whilst at the same time train them to allow them to develop their own life skills. Learning business administration in our fast-moving environment will undoubtedly enhance both Sydney and Charles in the world of work’.
