Senior Cruise Placement Consultant Robert Jewers, known as Bob, has retired after working for Viking for the last 10 years.
Bob joined Viking Crew back in 2011 specialising with Cruise Hotel Placement. Bob’s extensive experience in the cruise industry has seen him work in a number of roles operationally both onboard and ashore, giving him the perfect experience to be able to source hotel candidates for our extensive portfolio of cruise clients, including Windstar Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn since 2020 Scenic Eclipse.
Bob has been a pivotal member of the placement team, regularly attended many of Viking Crew’s cruise recruitment events over the years both in the UK and in Europe, having met and interviewed countless candidates.
Commenting on his retirement Operations Director of Viking Crew Paul Rutterford said, ‘Bob has been a large part of the Placement Team over the last 10 years, his experience and knowledge of the cruise and hospitality industry is invaluable’.
Guenter Steinbrunner from Windstar Cruises commented ‘ The impact you’ve had on this company cannot be understated. You have made all of our jobs easier, and it was a great experience to have you working with us . A sincere thank you for all you have done , you surely will be missed and I wish you all the best for your retirement’.

A presentation took place at Viking House on Bob’s last day where he was joined by Viking Chairman and Founder, Dieter Jaenicke as well as Directors and fellow colleagues.
Group Managing Director Matthew Jaenicke added ‘Bob has been with Viking for the last 10 years which has seen the company grow considerably over this time. I would like to thank Bob for his commitment to Viking over these years and I would like to wish him well on his retirement’.
Bob has completed his service with training for our new team members, with both Adam Gilbert and Katie Burns recently joined Viking Crew as Placement Consultants based at our Head Office in Dover.
