Accounts Assistant (Viking Maritime Group, Dover)

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and confident individual who is looking to get a start in finance to work in our global headquarters based in Whitfield, Dover, Kent. The successful applicant will be working towards or have completed an accounting qualification, proficient in Excel including knowledge of formulas and be confident with numbers along with outstanding attention to detail.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Data entry of invoices, receipts, remittances etc across the global group of companies
  • Dealing with multi-currency transactions.
  • Liaising with international suppliers and customers
  • Sending out invoices, chasing customer payments and reconciliations
  • Keeping customer’s billing up to date
  • Dealing with client queries by email and telephone
  • Arranging international payments to suppliers
  • Organising and keeping records up to date

In addition to the above, you will also be expected to assist with general office administration duties, particularly when colleagues are on annual leave.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Working towards an AAT or equivalent qualification
  • Must have excellent IT and Communication Skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, including basic knowledge of formulae
  • Confident with numbers
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail

Desired Experience:

  • 12 months working within an office environment
  • Experience with Xero accounting software
  • Additional Information:
  • Hours: 09:00 – 17:30, Monday to Friday

Training & Facilities Coordinator (Engineer) – (Maritime Skills Academy, Dover)

We are seeking an individual to support our growing team of Training Coordinators at The Maritime Skills Academy (Part of The Viking Maritime Group) in Dover. We run a cross section of safety and development training which cover STCW, GWO, Commercial & Industrial Fire Fighting, Health & Safety, Education with local colleges and vocational qualifications at our centre in Kent. The MSA Solent has now been launched and offers a portfolio of simulation training, which is located in Portsmouth.

The individual must be based in the East Kent area and have a strong passion for training. Ideally, they should have previous teaching experience, but this is not essential. The individual must be a qualified engineer holding an unlimited CoC of any level and sailed in the capacity of engineer in the merchant navy. If the individual has High Voltage experience this would be an excellent addition.

The job itself will be predominantly running engineering courses (MCA AEC Part 1 & 2 and Engineering Apprentices) as well as creating new courses. All trainers assist in other areas depending on client demands. This can include boat work, survival pool sessions, GWO safety and educational courses.

We have an opening for a Marine Placement Assistant 

to join our team, working within the busy recruitment department. Main duties include:

  • Administration responsibilities
  • Sight all application forms
  • Process application forms, including emails
  • Maintain applicant tracking computer records and in-house online candidate database.
  • Administer all candidates/applicants records and ensure all information is current
  • Contact applicants and employers and keep both informed regularly

Experience within an office environment is desired. Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills are required, which should include use of Microsoft Office. 

This role is Full Time, working Monday to Friday, 9am – 5.30pm based at Viking’s Head Office based in Whitfield, Dover.

Cruise Placement Consultant & Yacht Placement Consultant

Due to continued growth Viking Crew are seeking two motivated individuals to joins it team, based at our head office in Dover. The two openings are for positions working within our Placement Department, with one focusing on Cruise Deck, Engine and Technical Placement and a second position working on Interior and Hotel Positions for our super yacht clients.

Working with our international portfolio of diverse clients the roles will select, source and interview candidates for a wide range of roles.  The right candidate will need to be an excellent administrator, well-motivated and a first class communicator, as well as being super organised and a self-starter. Whilst working in a team, candidates need to be able to work on their own.  This position is office based in Dover, but there could be some travelling required to attend travel fayres, ship visits, interview days and other industry related events as and when required.

The ideal candidate could have previous experience of working either onboard a cruise ship or yacht and is now looking for a shore based role, whilst continuing their career in the marine industry.
