After obtaining a degree in the Science of Maritime Operations, Sam spent the following eleven years sailing in the ferry and cruise sectors as a navigation officer and was lucky enough to visit most ports in the Mediterranean, Baltic, Norway and his favourite being the Caribbean.
Sam took a shoreside role four years ago with Saga Cruises as the Maritime Operations Manager and finally Marine Superintendent.  No two days were ever the same. He planned all the cruise itineraries for the fleet and played a leading role in bringing the newest Spirit class vessels into service, simultaneously the decommissioning and sale of the existing older vessels. Sam managed the turnaround operations in the UK as well as all port operations Worldwide.  Management and leadership in day to day operations of the vessels including bi-annual audits ensuring the crew and vessels delivered the best possible standards in safety and operations.
Sam brings a vast array of skills learnt throughout his employment prior to Viking Maritime and hopes to enhance the already extremely competent and enthusiastic Marine Instructors.
